A lot of people say neutral is hard to teach, but I don’t quite agree. A tree is hard to describe if you describe it by its branches, but easy if by its root. The same is true of neutral: it has simple rules and structure that give rise to complex things, but are not themselves complex.
I’ve had a lot of overlap with neutral in my past topics, but I figured it was finally time to make a video dedicated entirely to neutral.

Actually helpful. Thanks!
why is this 480p ?
Are we not gonna talk about how Ganons name is Daddy
1. No option covers everything
2. When anticipating incorrectly you leave an opening because of 1.
3. Everything you do influences your opponent and establishes some kind of anticipation
Coming here to learn the fundamentals again. Can’t seem to get any better
Verma is the only player that talk about a state that he can't win lmao
Thanks to this video I just won my first elite smash battle with my main! After weeks of getting in then immediately dropping out, I've done it!
Why do you have so few subscribers? Your videos are the most informative and useful Smash Bros. content I have witnessed. I already have seen improvements in my play so thank you!
How this guy so perfectly explained this topic arguably better than ZeRo and ProSmash Guides is beyond me
This is simple and to the point i love it just give the diagrams and picture like more than 0.5 seconds of screen time
great vid <3
How the hell do you only have 8740 subscribers? This channel is amazing, and the advice you give here is applicable generally in any game.
"…it's harder to feed a man than it is to teach him to fish."
Is it?
"a children's fighting game"
bruh. cut the annoying analogies and get straight to the point
Ah great another video that I barely understand. Why are videos SO hard for me to use???
awesome videos!
We 480p bois
So I think I understand this? Using an option, and then figuring what the opponent does afteewards so that you can punishing it? My biggest question is, what can I do if I can't "process" these things due to how fast the game/opponent is? I'll try to look for patterns but I can't seem to find them unless they're super obvious in my opponent. This ends up making me rely on things like gimmicks or projectiles to win, but I want to actually improve and stay consistent, and may be if I can figure this out I can do that!
Neutral = Rock Paper Scissors.
God damn bro, some of the shit you said in first two minutes is poetry
Your content is so bingeworthy I always forget to leave likes and comment. I am usually listening to your vids while playing haha. Solidified thoughts are cool
Why does the beginning music sounds so familiar…
A little late to the party, but solid video! I feel like this helps tie things like the footsie handbook, guides on baits, etc. into a singular concept (or as you put it, describe the tree rather than the branches).
Hopefully I phrase this well: generally I play very reactionary in neutral, so in this framework, instead of simply reacting to the option ("he did a nair"), would I be reacting to my opponent establishing expectations ("he did a nair, so he's establishing the expectation that he will nair more [which he may or may not be doing intentionally to subvert that expectation]"), reacting to his response to my action ("he did a nair, so he is attempting to exploit an option that nair beats"), or reacting to whether or not my opponent is following the expectation I have set ("he did a nair, which is or is not what I expected in this situation")?
ah, ive always heard bout sword/spacie neutral, btu never about the roots of neutral. i love it!
thanks verm- always manage to pique my interest and answer curiosity's
from a fellow ganon main
I learned more in this video than I learn in school
Amazing content
The most meta meta-video I have ever scene. The presentation reminds me of videos that talk about chakras and palm reading haha
2:35 laughs in magic burst
Neutral in a nutshell is basically this: Having both players be in a position similar to that of the beginning of the match
Fantastic video, man.
So basically conditioning and deceptions? Making them think that you’re gonna do what youve been doing for the past minute but catch them by anti-countering their counter for your move? Maybe I’m just getting dumber and I’m missing more than half of the video or this concept could have been explained without all the fancy words. Still, clearly this helped other people so I can’t talk bad about it.
THE METAPHORS!
8:09 That was a perfect example, you did uair + jab to bait, you read the jump and tried to use a tilt, but he didn't take it. Got scared and jumped off lol.
I don't like this video because you talked about conditioning instead of neutral. I caught the yomi shout out though.
Learning Nuetral is hard but I can understand the breakdown you’re doing. It also helps that I’m a Ganon main so Neutral is even harder based upon his tool kit properties. Thank you for making these videos and I hope someday to achieve your level of skill.
