Rematch – The add-on that shows which pets are strong against what, and helpful for making teams and adding pets to leveling ques. Its really great.

Derangement’s Pet Battle Cooldowns – Puts all pet abilities in the top right and left, works in pvp, shows debuffs and dots at a glance. Great for PvP

Battle Pet Battle Stats – Puts percentages in the pet health frames

Battle Pet Daily Tamer – Shows locations of Tanaan Legendaries

Pet Battle Breed ID’s – Need in order to see pet Breeds. Watch my video in the link above to find out what pet breeds are and why they matter.

PetTraker – DOES A LOT MORE THAN JUST TRACK PETS. It also gives its own breed id’s (I disable it though), and has its own opponent move tracker which actually works in pvp and is that little thing in the bottom right of my screen that shows what moves my opponent has and what their cooldowns are.

  • For capturing pets, I do real well with:
    Anubisath Idol in first slot.
    Alterac Brew-pup in second slot.
Amber Moth in the third slot.

  • one of the best pets to lvl is deffo the iron starlette i prefere the P/P breed as it may have little less health (about150) but has at least 40 more attack power, the wind-up ==> supercharge ==> wind-up combo hits soooo hard especially against beasts!

  • Great Video..even a year later its still pretty much spot on. Only thing to change is that the Zandalari Dino pets don't drop from the dinosaurs on the island…only the humanoid mobs drop them.

  • How do you know if a breed is SS? Is there an icon on them? Is so where is it and what does it look like?

  • Great video, just wanted to mention the terrible turnip's move weakening blows is a move similar to grumpy's superbark except without the 4 round cooldown. I prefer the turnip since i've had superbark dodged.

Also, the sprite darter hatchling has the same moveset as the nether faerie, and alliance players who quested in feralas before cataclysm may already have one.

  • A rather informative video. While I haven't really invested time into pet battles, I find them more fun to do than legion on an alt.
That said my favorite is Sister of Temptation. She does fair enough for healing the team and herself.

  • I have a snail that has shell shield absorb and dive.
WHat i do is use shell shield – Take 78 less dmg
then spam absorb – no cooldown – heals 156 deals 156
    and if i can use dive – does 350 – 500 dmg

  • I'm not big on pet battling because I got tired of pet tamer pets literally always going first because they are always faster,
but I will say that my Magical Crawdad was excellent at beating the few pet tamers I've won against.
Shell armor thing + wish is neat.
I'll probably get a few of the pets off this list and try them out, maybe I'll start to like pet battles

  • I'd recommend Chrominius for wild battle pet capturing as well. Its ability to damage all pets on the opposing team does wonders for shortening fights by weakening the back line. Just got to be careful not to kill the pet you are trying to capture. Its self-heal ability means it can go several fights without needing a heal up or bandage. It has a big finisher hit as well, so when that last pet comes out badly damaged already, its just dies.
Two Chrominius's plus a Terrible Turnip make a combo that will let you catch anything, if used sensibly.

  • Oh yeah, one of my 'Go to' pet(s) are a team of Servant of Demidos P/P.
With Magic Sword, Siphon Anima and Soulrush.
A SoD can easilly put down teams of pets on it's own, and if you have 3 of them well…

Magic Sword's humugous Crit potential is awesome and quite rare. Limited to only 2 pets in game (iirc) (Treasure Goblin)
Siphon Anima is a very versitile heal.
Soulrush for its big hit +stun chance.
Combined with SoD's magic racial means it cant be nuked easilly.

  • Regarding your point on the distinctiveness of Ikky vs Zandalari Compi's.
Ikky (Flying pets) will almost certainly have the attack initiative for the first 1 or 2 attacks (or you'll want to reconsider yer breed -as in the case of any flying pet with a Rush).
However once Ikky takes a couple of hits, he will likely drop below 50% HP it will lose its Racial bonus.
At 273 base speed this leaves Ikky vulnerable to fast enemies while also falling below the more desirable base speed of 289, thus being on the back foot for the remainder of the battle. Compound this with a speed debuff (Primal Cry) and this disadvantage can be a real limitation.

Zandalari Compi's do have a Ninja (S/S) breed which gives them a base speed of 341 (iirc) which it wont lose unless debuffed (Primal Cry) and even then may hold the initiative for the remainder of the battle.

Regarding Hunting Party vs Flock. As you point out Flock locks Ikky in to 3 hit turn cycle. Which is 'loss of control', and can be more of a penalty than it first appears.
Hunting party delivers its attack more quickly and allows you to still add a fairly big single hit afterwards while your target is under the effect of 'Shattered Defences' without having to resort to another hunting party thus preventing the application of Black Claw on the next pet where you kill the current enemy.

Ikky does have much higher AP, but a Compi's 'Black Claw' + 'Shattered Defences' combo easilly keeps it competitive with Ikkys output given Ikkys limitations.

    But ye, nice vid tho.

  • Thanks to Hazel I found your videos. They have been super helpful since I am just getting into pet battles. One thing I noticed though (which could just be Blizz changing things since you made your video) is Zandalari Hatchlings. Their moves are not actually exactly same. Only Kneebiter and Anklerender have the Hunting Party/Black Claw Combo. The Footslasher has Exposed Wounds instead that does less additional damage, but lasts longer, while Toenibbler does not have Hunting Party.

  • Some of these addons really don't play nice with ElvUI. Fortunately, PetTracker covers what most of them do and it works fine.
